Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid the foundation stone for Odisha’s first ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

This Adivasi Bhawan will be built at a cost of Rs 100 crore. After completion, it will be the one-stop centre for the propagation of tribal art and culture. It will facilitate conferences and exhibitions.

Odisha’s 64 tribal communities will benefit from Adivasi Bhawan. There will be an affordable accommodation facility at Adivasi Bhawan for tribals visiting the capital city from across the state, said the Chief Minister.

According to the Chief Minister, the Adivasi Bhawan will have a facility for the exhibition and sale of tribal products. An outlet for Koraput coffee will also come up at the facility.

Tribals will be provided with detailed information on health facilities, educational institutions and government offices at Adivasi Bhawan.

Members of the tribal communities had earlier requested the state government to set up the Adivasi Bhawan in the capital city. The ST&SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Jagannath Saraka was also present during the foundation stone laying ceremony.
