CM Naveen Patnaik Reaches Apollo Hospital to take stock of Naba Das

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Naba Das, who was critically injured by the gunshots fired at him by an ASI of police in Brajrajnagar on Sunday, has reached Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has also reached to the hospital to take stock of Naba Das’s Condition.

Condemning the attack on Das, the Chief Minister said, “I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack on honourable minister Shri Naba Das. I strongly condemn the attack on him. I pray for his early recovery.”

The Crime Branch has been ordered to take up the investigation immediately and senior officers of the agency have been directed to reach the spot.

Das, who sustained critical injuries after an ASI of police opened fire at him, has been airlifted from the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare minister Naba Kishore Das was shot at by an assistant sub-inspector of police in Jharsuguda district on Sunday. The ASI has been taken into custody for interrogation and investigation.

The man who fired at Das reportedly was in police uniform and he has been identified as ASI Gopal Das. As a policeman in uniform, Gopal Das could reach the Odisha Health Minister’s proximity to fire four to five rounds at his chest.

“Assistant Sub-inspector of Police (ASI) Gopal Das opened fire at the minister. The minister is injured and rushed to hospital,” Brajrajnagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi.
