Cong Plans Solidarity March & to Meet Prez; Rahul Meets Party MPs After Conviction in Defamation Case

New Delhi: A day after his conviction by a Surat Court in a criminal defamation case, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday met the party MPs at the Congress party office on parliament premises. Sonia Gandhi was also present in the meeting.

The Congress party has called a meeting of its steering committee members, senior leaders, state chiefs, and legislative party leaders on Friday evening to chalk out a future strategy following Rahul Gandhi’s conviction.

The party is planning some major protest demonstrations throughout the country in the coming days. Like-minded opposition parties are being contacted. Congress president and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has also called a meeting of the opposition parties on Friday

After this meeting the MPs will march to the Vijay Chowk for a demonstration. According to sources, the Congress leadership has also sought time to meet President Droupadi Murmu on this issue.
