Couple Sentenced Life Imprisonment for Killing 2-Days-Old Granddaughter

Bhopal: A couple was sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court in Bhopal on Friday for killing their two-days-old infant granddaughter. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1000 on both of them.

The court of Additional Session Judge Atul Saxena convicted the accused Puran Singh Ahirwar and his wife Vidya Bai Ahirwar under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302, 120B and 201.

On September 28, 2020, the body of an unidentified infant about two days old was discovered in Ayodhya Nagar police station area of Bhopal. It was found that the infant was stabbed to death.

The investigation led to the arrest of the accused persons, who confessed to the murder of the child of their daughter Kajal on September 27, 2020 night.

DNA report confirmed the identity of the dead infant. A total of 20 witnesses were examined in the case.
