Death of Student in Dal Cauldron; HM & Cooks Suspended

Sundargarh: The authorities of the school where a student died due to hot dal falling on him, have suspended the headmistress and three cooks.

The headmistress was identified as Carmela Billung, Block welfare extension officer Bikash Ranjan Nayak. The three cooks were identified as Tarini Nayak, Kartik Nayak and Dhirendra Rout.

The class 8 student of Dengula High School in the Koida area in Sundargarh district succumbed to his burn injuries while undergoing treatment on Sunday night.

According to reports, the minor student identified as Gelet Hanga of the Patakunda area sustained severe burn injuries after falling into a hot dal vessel while helping the cook shift the container from the gas stove.

Though the incident took place on March 6, it came to the fore following the death of the student.

Immediately, the student was rushed to Koida Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) after his health condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
