Drunkard Husband Kills Wife by Slitting Her Throat in Puri

Puri: A drunkard man killed his wife by slitting her throat at Dighal Slum under Nimapara police station in Odisha’s Puri district.

According to police sources, the accused husband Irfan Khan (36) has been taken into custody for interrogation. The victim was his 26-year-old wife Baharun Bibi.

It is alleged that Irfan was a drunkard and his liquor consumption was a major reason behind the marital dispute continuing between the two.

On Sunday night, Irfan returned back home in an inebriated state. A quarrel erupted between him and his wife. The heated exchange of words took a violent turn when drunken Irfan slit the throat of Baharun with a razor blade.

Extreme blood loss from the wound killed the woman on the spot.

Hearing her cry for help, neighbours rushed to the spot and overpowered the accused. After receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem.
