Even so, death comes, boat sinks and 70 people die

Damascus: More than 70 people lost their lives due to a boat sinking off the coast of Syria in the Middle East. So far, about 31 bodies have been recovered, while many are still missing, as said by the Syrian Ministry of Health. It is primarily suspected that there are refugees in the boat that has suffered an accident.

While it is not yet clear how many passengers or refugees were in the boat, around 20 people have been rescued. They have been admitted to a nearby hospital and are being treated. The rescue operation is still going on to find the missing people. Their identification process is ongoing. It is not clear whether they are genuine citizens of Syria or refugees trying to enter Syria illegally. Syrian human rights activists have complained that the boat was carrying more than its capacity. While the capacity of the boat is only 30 people, about 100 to 150 people were traveling in it. It is feared that this happened due to overloading.
