Father Arrested for Beating up Koida BDO; Assailant Brother Absconds

Rourkela: Block Development Officer (BDO) of Koida block in Sundargarh district, Pallavirani Raj, was allegedly beaten up by her father and brother on Tuesday night. The duo also beat up Assistant Engineer Abhisek Panigrahi on the spot.

The BDO’s father, Ramesh Raj was arrested by Koida police following a complaint lodged by the official. But her brother Sangram Raj managed to escape. He is still absconding.

According to reports, the father and brother of the BDO assaulted her with sticks at her official residence at around 10 pm on Tuesday. They also attacked the Block Assistant Engineer Abhisek Panigrahi, who tried to save the BDO. Both government officials were injured.

The BDO was shifted to the SCB medical college hospital in Cuttack. The injured Assistant Engineer was referred to the Rourkela Government Hospital.
