FIR Registered Against Brother of Godman Dhirendra Shastri

Bhopal: A FIR has been registered against the brother of the religious preacher Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham. The complaint was registered following a viral video in which the accused was seen threatening a man during a wedding function.

The accused identified as Shaligram Garg wielded a gun and was seen hurling threats.

The FIR was registered based on the complaint of Kallu Ahirwar. The police have booked the accused under sections 294 ( uttering obscene words),506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causes hurt), 227 (knowingly violating condition) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the SC/ST Act 1989 for hate crime against a member of the SC or ST.

Earlier, godman Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham came under question over his “ability to predict a person’s future” and “disclose a person’s background” after meeting him or her for the first time, as some accused him of promoting superstition under the garb of religion.
