Firing at UP Court; Two Murder Accused Shot at

Lucknow: Two firearm-wielding miscreants opened indiscriminate fire at two murder accused on a Jaunpur court premises in Uttar Pradesh.

The victims were Surya Prakash and Mithilesh Giri, who are accused of killing a wrestler named Badal Yadav in Dharmapur on May 6. They were being brought to the Diwani court, when the two assailants fired at them.

The lawyers present on the spot managed to overpower the shooters and handed them over to the police.

Both injured murder accused were shifted to Varanasi as their condition was critical. Meanwhile, police are interrogating the shooters and are yet to disclose their identities.

A few weeks back gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in a similar manner while they were being taken for a medical check in police custody in Prayagraj.
