Former Afghan Female MP & Her Bodyguard Shot Dead in Kabul

Unknown assailants killed a former female parliamentarian of Afghanistan and her bodyguard in Kabul. Both were shot dead on Saturday, Kabul police said. The slain ex-lawmaker of Afghanistan was Mursal Nabizada. She was one of the few former female parliamentarians who stayed back in Kabul even after Taliban seized power in August 2021.

It is the first time a former MP is murdered in Kabul since the Taliban takeover.

According to Afghan police, Mursal and her bodyguard were shot dead at around 3 am in her house on Saturday. Her brother and another security guard were injured. Interestingly, a third security guard took this chance to escape with the money and jewellery of the deceased.

Mursal Nabizada was elected to the Afghan parliament in 2019 from Kabul.

She was a member of the parliamentary defence commission.
