New Delhi: A Dubai-bound FedEx aircraft suffered a bird hit just after its take-off from Delhi airport. Following this bird-hit incident, the Delhi airport authorities declared a full emergency on Saturday afternoon. The bird-hit occurred at a height of around 1000 feet, airport authorities said.
The full emergency declaration was made to enable the bird-hit aircraft to land at the Delhi airport and technicians could check the plane for any technical glitch before its clearance.
Bird-hit incidents pose major technical challenges and can be fatally dangerous. In February this year, an IndiGo flight from Surat to Delhi had to be diverted to Ahmedabad after it suffered a bird hit during takeoff.
