Galwan Martyr’s Wife Commissioned into Indian Army; Posted in Ladakh

New Delhi: Lt Rekha Singh (29), the wife of a martyr of the Galwan clash, passed out of the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai and was allocated the Army Ordnance Corps. She was commissioned into the Indian Army as an officer and has been posted to Ladakh.

Her family hails from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. She is the widow of Naik Deepak Singh of the Army Medical Corps, who was awarded the Vir Chakra for his valour during the Galwan clash. Rendering medical support to the injured soldiers he managed to save as many as 30 lives before succumbing to his injuries.

Rekha and Deepak got married in November 2019. She lost her husband only seven months after marriage.

In early 2022, Rekha Singh, a BSc, Bed, was encouraged by the Army to take the UPSC exam. She cleared the exam and also the five-day SSB interview at Allahabad.
