HC Allows DJ Music for Durga Puja In Cuttack, Setting Sound Limit at 65-Decibel

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has permitted the use of DJ music during this year’s Durga Puja festivities in Cuttack City. But the High Court has issued strict order that the sound of DJ music should not exceed 65 decibels.

The High Court issued the order during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) addressing concerns over noise pollution during the Puja festivities.

Earlier, the High Court had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cuttack, to submit an affidavit outlining measures to prevent noise pollution.

Despite allowing DJ music at Puja pandals, the High Court stressed that noise regulations must be adhered to.

The High Court also expressed concern over the condition of roads in the city. It directed the authorities to complete necessary road repair work within seven days.

The High Court had earlier ordered that no decorative arches are to be erected on roads during the Durga Puja to avoid traffic congestion. The court also directed removal of hanging cables and wires that pose potential threats to public safety.
