Heavy Rains To Continue Lashing Coastal Odisha & Other Dists: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) meteorologist, Umasankar Das on Thursday, informed the media about the impending rainfall in South Odisha and a few other districts in the state.

Since a few days ago, a few districts in Southern Odisha along with numerous coastal areas have been experiencing copious rainfall, as a result of a cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighbours.

According to authorities at the IMD, the State is predicted to see rains through October 9.

The past 24 hours have seen significant rainfall in the districts of Koraput and Ganjam. Additionally, the majority of the State had modest to moderate rainfall. Today’s rainfall is expected to be very heavy in South Odisha. The most affected coastal regions would be those from Balasore to Gajapati, according to Das.

“Heavy rain will fall in South Odisha, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Koraput districts. For the upcoming two to three days”, Das forecasted that Bhubaneswar and Cuttack would receive light to moderate rainfall.

According to the forecast, until October 9, light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers are highly likely to occur at several locations over the coastal districts of Odisha and at a few locations in the other districts.
