HM Among 8 Arrested for Circulating Fake ‘Leaked’ Matric Question Paper in Kalahandi

Bhubaneswar: Eight persons including the headmaster of a school were arrested in Kalahandi district late Tuesday night. They were alleged to be involved in circulating fake question papers for the matriculation examination. This racket was found to be operating at RK Shakuntala High School in Rupra under Kesinga block in Kalahandi district. The accused persons were allegedly distributing copies of fake question papers for a price.

The High School Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha concluded on March 20. The Odisha government has denied any question paper leak in this exam.

The persons arrested in Kalahandi district included Pranabandhu Sahu, a school headmaster, who was deputed as an examination controller. As many as 22 mobile phones, five laptops, one CPU, a pen drive, and net cash of Rs 18,950 were seized from the possession of the eight arrested persons including the headmaster.

According to sources, on March 14, the State Education Department filed a complaint with Kalahandi SP regarding the alleged fake Matric question paper leak. Investigation of Kalahandi police led to the arrest of these eight persons. Further investigation into the case is on.

According to reports, the arrested persons were making photocopies of fake question papers and distributing them among the candidates.

Opposition parties including the BJP and Congress cornered the Odisha Government in the Assembly by alleging that the question paper of Class 10 or the matriculation examination was leaked.
