India Seal Series As Bowlers Run Riot In 2nd ODI Vs Blackcaps

Raipur: After a decisive performance with the ball, batters helped India beat New Zealand by eight wickets in the second one-day international at Raipur today. The Men in Blue have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Put into bat first, New Zealand were in deep trouble as they were restricted to 15/4 in the first powerplay. They lost two more quick wickets and their scorecard read 56/6 at one stage.

That was when Glenn Phillips (36) and Super King Mitchell Santner (27) put on a 47-run stand for the seventh wicket to take the Kiwis past the 100-run mark. But shortly after Santner and Phillips were dismissed, the Black Caps were bowled out for 108 in 34.3 overs.

Shami registered figures of 6-1-18-3 while Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar picked two wickets each. Mohammed Siraj bowled an economical spell of 6-1-10-1. Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav bagged a wicket each.

The India fast bowlers had their day out as they picked seven wickets while three were picked by the two spinners.

In reply, India cruised past the target (111/2) in 20.1 overs. Rohit scored a 50-ball 51 striking seven fours and two sixes while Shubman Gill was unbeaten on 40. The duo put on a 72-run stand for the first wicket. In the end, it was Gill and Ishan Kishan (8*) who finished things off for India. Henry Shipley and Santner picked up a wicket each.
