Interstate Online IPL Betting Rackets Busted in Telangana; Rs 1.84 Cr Seized, 7 Arrested

Hyderabad: Three online IPL betting rackets were busted by the Special Operation Team (SOT) in Telangana with the seizure of Rs 1.84 in cash and the arrest of seven bookies.

Personnel of the SOT Shamshabad and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police station apprehended a sub-bookie Podapati Narsing Rao, while two main bookies escaped. In this case, police seized Rs 60 lakh cash, Rs 32 lakh frozen in bank accounts, and two mobile phones.

The second online IPL betting racket was located by the SOT in Rajendranagar. Main bookie Vegesina Ravi Raju and sub-bookie Bhupatiraju Prasad were arrested. The police seized Rs 71 lakh cash, Rs 7 lakh from the bank, 17 mobile phones, and two laptops

These bookies had organized online betting in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. They were making transactions through payment apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, etc.

The SOT Balanagar and Narsingi police team nabbed a main bookie K Vinod Kumar, while a sub-bookie escaped. Police seized Rs 7.5 lakh cash, 17 mobile phones, one Tab and one laptop from them.
