New Delhi: On 14 September 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language. Since then this day was celebrated as National Hindi Day. The Hindi language is mentioned in Article 343(1) of the Indian Constitution. According to this, the official language of India is ‘Hindi’ and the script is Devanagari. An interesting thing related to the word ‘Hindi’ is that this word is in Persian language. Hindi in Persian means- ‘Land of the Indus River. Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world after Mandarin, Spanish and English. At the same time, 77 percent of the population of India speaks and understands Hindi.

Hindi Diwas was celebrated for the first time in 1953

In the year 1949, the Hindi language was adopted by the Constituent Assembly. But on the request of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha to promote it in every region, since 1953, 14 September was celebrated every year as Hindi Diwas all over India. Apart from this, September 14 is also the birth anniversary of Rajendra Singh. He was a scholar of Hindi and Sanskrit. He was one of the most important personalities in making Hindi the official language of India.

World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January

Hindi Diwas is celebrated on 14 September to promote Hindi in India. At the same time, ‘World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January all over the world. Its purpose is to spread the promotion of Hindi at the global level. Hindi language award is also given on this day. On the occasion of the Hindi Diwas, the President of the country honors all those people who have achieved achievement in the field of the Hindi language.

Hindi is everywhere

The entire week from 14 to 21 September is celebrated as Official Language Week across the country. During this, competitions like essay, speech, debate are organized in all schools and colleges. Today Hindi language is dominated throughout India. Hindi language is given place on all social media websites and internet.
