‘It’s Not a Murder, She Died Due to Drowning,” Says Sambalpur SP on VSSUT Student Death Case

Sambalpur: Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar has revealed that Chinmayi Sahu was not murdered, rather she died due to drowning.

Earlier today, the Sambalpur police collected the reports of lie detection test of two male friends of the deceased from Bhubaneswar FSL.

As per the autopsy report, Chinmayi died due to drowning in the water. The SP also informed that if a satisfactory conclusion cannot be drawn then we may plan for the Narco test.

According to police reports, the CCTV footage has been seized from different places which are now being analysed. So far 31 people have been interrogated in this case. Out of these 5 are shopkeepers, one Dhaba owner and a number of students.

For unversed, Chinmayi was reported to have jumped off the power channel bridge on Tuesday night after attending the convocation ceremony. Her body was recovered on Wednesday. The university authorities had lodged a missing complaint at Sambalpur police station.
