Javelin Pierces School Boy’s Neck in Balangir

Balangir: A ninth-class student was critically injured when he was accidentally hit by a javelin in Odisha’s Balangir district. The incident took place during the annual sports meet of Agalpur Boys High School in the district on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Sadanand Meher of Agalpur village.

According to sources, the javelin suddenly hit Sadanand on the neck and stuck below his chin when he was standing at the playground during the sports meet. It had entered the boy’s neck.

Sadanand was rescued in critical condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. After primary treatment, he was shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir with the javelin stuck in his neck.

After receiving information about the incident, local police reached the spot and started investigation.
