Justice Jaswant Singh to be Appointed as New Chief Justice of Orissa High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium after its meeting on September 28 recommended Justice Jaswant Singh to be elevated as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium, after its meeting on September 28, recommended Justice Jaswant Singh to be elevated as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

Justice Jaswant Singh was appointed a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 2007. On October 8, 2021, he took oath to serve as a judge of the Orissa High Court.

Further, The Collegium has also recommended the transfer of current Chief Justice of Orissa High Court S Muralidhar as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court.

On December 31, 2020, Justice S Muralidhar was named the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court and formally took charge on January 4, 2021.

As the 32nd Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, he had succeeded Justice Mohammad Rafiq.

Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari retired on September 12, leaving the position of Chief Justice of the Madras High Court vacant.
