Land-for-jobs scam: ED Questions Misa Bharti; CBI Grills Tejashwi Yadav

New Delhi: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav reached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters in New Delhi for questioning in the land-for-jobs scam. Speaking to media he said he and his family had decided to fight back.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also questioned Tejashwi’s sister Misa Bharti at its Delhi office on Saturday in connection with the same case.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav visited Tejashwi’s sister Misa Bharti’s house before she started for the ED office for questioning. Akhilesh said, “ED, CBI, and Income Tax have been misused by the BJP against regional parties to defame them. Even Congress did the same thing during their regime.”

The CBI has filed a chargesheet in the case against Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and 14 others under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. All of them were given bail in the case by a Delhi court.

The land-for-jobs scam involves the alleged bribe of land pieces given by candidates in return for jobs in the railways when Lalu Yadav was the Union railway minister.

CBI questioned RJD supremo Lalu Yadav in connection with the land-for-job case on March 7. On the previous day his wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi was interrogated by the CBI at her Patna residence.

ED carried out searches at the Delhi residence of Tejashwi Yadav on March 10, as part of the ongoing probe in the land-for-jobs scam. The ED also raided several other locations in Delhi, the National Capital Region, and Bihar, including the premises of Lalu Yadav’s three daughters and other RJD leaders.
