Males are modeling for Female Undergarments in China; Know Why

China has banned female models from showcasing undergarments online. To dodge this restriction, Chinese livestream fashion companies have started featuring male models in their videos to market lingerie.

According to New York Post, livestreams featuring females modeling for undergarments have been banned by Chinese authorities as per the law against spreading obscene material online.

So, some of these companies are hiring male models to flaunt women’s lingerie, including tight-fitting corsets and lace-trimmed nightgowns. Their videos are viral on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok.

“The light and luxurious boudoir of the wife and adults,” the caption of live stream video of a male model read. Many directors of these live streams are women.

According to New York Post, it is unknown how long this loophole will continue to work as China is also reportedly cracking down on “effeminate” depictions of men in the media.
