Man Arrested for Extorting Money from Students by Posing as CHSE Councilor

Balasore: A man was arrested for posing as the Councilor of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and defrauding examinees in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The identity of the accused is not revealed yet. The accused extorted money from students on repeated occasions, informed Balasore SP Sagarika Nath. He used to assure students of manipulating their marks and if they did not comply, he threatened to destroy their careers.

According to sources, so far, he has duped students of Rs 3 lakh. The money was sent in accounts created by forgery and the money was collected through UPI platforms.

The probe into the matter is underway. Further details related to the extorting case are awaited.
