Man Succumbs to Burns After Self-Immolating in Front of Tehsildar Office in Nuapada

Nuapada: The divyang man who man attempted self-immolation over a pending land-related case in front of the tehsil office succumbed to burn injuries in Odisha’s Nuapada district.

According to reports, the victim identified as Jagdish Chauhan of Kalyanpur village within Sadar police limits of Nuapada attempted self-immolation over a land dispute issue.

Meanwhile, Chauhan was shifted to VIMSAR, Burla in critical condition.

The incident took place outside the Nuapada tehsil office in the afternoon. Chauhan was distressed over a pending land-related case and was alleging inaction by the revenue authorities.

He came to the tehsil office and reportedly had an argument with the authorities after which he attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol and setting himself on fire.

While he was immediately shifted to the district headquarters hospital, doctors referred him to VIMSAR Burla as his condition deteriorated.
