Mobile Phones Theft On Mo Bus Raises Concern

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Weeks after Rs 15,000 was stolen from a cancer patient in a Mo Bus, as many as six mobile phones were looted in another city bus on Sunday, raising concern about commuters’ safety in the state’s popular means of transport.

The loot took place on Mo Bus number 18, which plies on the Baramunda-Jagatpur route.

According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday when thousands of tourists from far and near came to Nandan Kanan zoo.

It was when the bus reached the zoo stoppage, there was a mad rush of people trying to get onto the bus.

Taking the advantage of the rush and inattentiveness of the passengers, the miscreants allegedly targeted some of them and looted six mobile phones.

It is also suspected that miscreants, posing as tourists were trying to get onto the bus. But instead of getting into the bus, they decamped with the phones from the passengers.

Reportedly, on September 16, the mobile phones of two passengers were stolen from another Mo Bus. More than 10 such cases have been reported over the past few months.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and started an investigation into the matter with the help of CCTV footage.
