Noise of Teachers’ Stir Resounds in Odisha Assembly, House Adjourned

Bhubaneswar: Due to the uproar by members of opposition BJP and Congress over continuing teachers’ agitation in the state, the Speaker of the Odisha Assembly had to adjourn question hour on Tuesday.

When the House assembled for the day to start the question hour at 10 30 am, the Opposition BJP and Congress members rushed to the well of the House to shout slogans against the alleged “anti-teacher” policies of the BJD government.

Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha appealed to the Opposition members to return back to their seats and raise the issue during the zero hour. But opposition members continued with their shouts. At last the Speaker adjourned the House till 11.30 am.

Since the last three days, hundreds of primary school teachers are staging demonstrations in Bhubaneswar demanding the fulfillment of several demands, that include the abolition of contractual appointments and

salary at par with the central government-appointed teachers.
