Odisha Govt Doctors Threaten to Go On Strike From Feb 1

Bhubaneswar: Government doctors in Odisha have threatened to launch state-wide cease work and agitation from February 1, if their long-standing demands were not fulfilled by the state government.

The Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA), an organization of government doctors in the state gave this strike call on Wednesday.

Their demands include the Central government pay scale and assured timely promotion.

Several rounds of talks of OMSA with the state government have not brought in any results so far, said OMSA members.

The state government has not implemented dynamic assured career progression (DACP) for the doctors in Odisha. Because of the low pay scale and lack of career advancement opportunities, young doctors do not prefer to join the state medical service, they alleged.

OMSA is also demanding the abolition of mandatory service for a specified period in the undivided KBK region for the doctors getting appointed by the government in the state.
