One Girl Student Drowns, Another Missing in Sea at Aryapalli Beach in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: Out of five girl students swept away into the deep sea, one drowned to death, and another went missing at Aryapalli beach in Ganjam district on Thursday morning.

The deceased girl has been identified as Swapna Rani Pandit a Plus 3 student from Kanisi. The girl, who is still missing, is Goodly Mishra, a Plus 2 second-year student of Sheragarh.

According to sources, these five friends had gone to the Aryapalli beach to have a bath in the sea at around 7 am. Suddenly they were swept away into the sea by a strong wave.

The local fishermen managed to rescue four of them. Out of them, Swapna was declared dead at Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital.

A rescue operation is underway to locate the other missing girl.
