Petrol at Rs 15/litre: Nitin Gadkari Suggests the Way

Jaipur: Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari suggested a way through which petrol price can be brought down to Rs 15 per litre.

While addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh, he said farmers across the country can become “urjadaata” (energy providers). According to him, petrol price will fall drastically if we use a blend of 60 per cent ethanol and 40 per cent electricity.

He stressed upon the advantages of using a blend of ethanol and electricity in vehicles in future.

“Our government is of the mindset that the farmers become not only ‘annadata’ but also ‘urjadata’… all the vehicles will now run on ethanol produced by farmers. If an average of 60% ethanol and 40% electricity is taken then petrol will be available at the rate of Rs 15 per litre and the people will be benefitted,” Gadkari said.

He added that such hybrid use of ethanol and electricity would not only reduce pollution and imports but also redirect the massive import expenditure of Rs 16 lakh crore towards the benefit of farmers.
