Prez & PM Condole Demise of Devotees in Indore Temple Mishap

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu condoled the death of over 13 people who died after falling into a stepwell in a temple during the Ram Navami celebration in Indore.

President Murmu tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of many people in the accident in Indore. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the mishap in Indore. PM Modi tweeted, “Extremely pained by the mishap in Indore. Spoke to CM @ChouhanShivraj Ji and took an update on the situation. The State Government is spearheading rescue and relief work at a quick pace. My prayers are with all those affected and their families.”

At least 13 were killed and ten people were rescued after over 25 devotees fell into the stepwell at Shri Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple after the floor sank in. Meanwhile, several are feared trapped.

The incident took place in the Patel Nagar area of Indore on Thursday while the devotees were sitting on the floor during hawan at the temple, under which there was a Bawadi or a stepwell.
