Rich Tributes to Martyred Odia Jawan Debashish Biswal, A Victim of Poonch Terrorist Attack

Bhubaneswar: The body of martyred Odia jawan Debashish Biswal, who lost his life in the Poonch terrorist attack, reached Odisha. The state Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal offered floral tribute and last respect to martyr jawan at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Governor paid his last respect to the martyr.

The martyr’s wife also paid tribute to the mortal remains at the airport. He was given the guard of honour at the airport. Then the body was taken to his native village Khandayatsahi in the Sakhigopal area of the Puri district. He will be cremated there with full state honours.

A large crowd gathered up at the airport to pay last respects to the martyr. Debashish was among five Indian Army soldiers who were martyred when the army vehicle in which they were travelling faced the terrorist attack in Poonch district on April 20. He is survived by his wife Sushree Sangeeta and a seven-month-old daughter.

On Friday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh for the bereaved family of the martyred Jawan.
