Russia Fires Barrages of 36 Missiles in Ukraine

Russia targeted Ukraine with a barrage of 36 missiles today. Out of the total, Ukraine’s air defence batteries shot down 16 of the missiles fired.

In the missile attack, a 79-year-old woman was killed, while at least seven others were injured. As per the Ukraine authority, the missiles from Russia hit targets from east to west, south and centre of the country.

According to reports, seven homes were destroyed, while 30 other houses were damaged. Emergency services were put out within hours as the strike sparked a fire at an industrial plant.

The Russian Defence Ministry yesterday said, Ukrainian forces had retreated in the face of Russian operations in the Luhansk region.

It said, the Ukrainian troops randomly retreated to a distance of up to 3 kilometres from the previously occupied lines.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian deputy defence minister Hanna Malyar said, Russian forces were mounting round-the-clock assaults on government positions.

On the other hand, Western countries announced more military spending on Ukraine, including artillery rounds.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said alliance members were continuing to produce 155 mm artillery rounds.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell urged countries to join Germany in sending tanks.
