Serial Extortionist Arrested For Blackmailing Eminent Personalities In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commisionerate Police has arrested a woman for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from prominent figures like movie producers and politicians in Bhubaneswar.

According to insiders, she used to extort money from high-profile people including politicians, ministers, and film producers making serious accusations against them.

Sources reveal, she was being monitored by the police since 2021. Notably, she was the subject of at least three cases with two of those cases coming this year.

She was held and grilled last night at the Khandagiri police station. According to reports in the media, two pendrives and a couple of mobile phones were obtained from her possession when Khandagiri Police in Bhubaneswar caught hold of her. The mobile phones, it is said, have all the pictures stored in them.

Apparently, the accused had recently brought allegations against a film producer at Laxmisagar police station alleging sexual assault and blackmail.

However, the said film producer had filed a counter-complaint at Nayapalli police station that the accused woman had been blackmailing him by making his photos viral. He further alleged that the woman had demanded Rs 3 crores from him.

The accused woman used to befriend politicians and other eminent personalities on social media and meet them at different places, where she would take pictures of them and later use them as blackmail weapons.

While a more thorough investigation is being conducted, however, the police have not released an official statement confirming the woman’s detention.
