Severe heart problems occur after monkeypox infection

New Delhi: A 31-year-old man infected with monkeypox was found to have a serious complication of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle). The researchers revealed that such a problem appeared in the body about a week after the appearance of monkeypox symptoms.

According to a case study published in the journal JACC, the patient reached the doctor five days after the symptoms appeared.

Apart from fever, he complained of injuries on his face, hands, feet and private parts. Three days later, the patient experienced pain from left arm to chest. Myocarditis has previously been associated with smallpox infection. So far, more than 50,000 cases of monkeypox have been identified worldwide. According to the report of the World Health Organization, 50,496 people have been infected with monkeypox and 16 people have died.
