Soil Conservation Overseer Falls in Trap of Odisha Vigilance

Kalahandi: Odisha vigilance detained a Soil Conservation Overseer for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 35,000 to process documents for the release of payment for MGNREGA works in Kalahandi district.

The accused was identified as Dhanujaya Dhoba, who was posted as a Soil Conservation Overseer at Thuamul Rampur. He had allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 from a beneficiary in order to process the documents for the release of payment in his favour and other beneficiaries under MGNREGA  towards work relating to the digging of the staggered trench, a vigilance release said.

After receiving hints about taking bribes, a trap was laid and the accused was caught accepting the bribe. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused.

Simultaneous searches are going on at two locations in Dhoba from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

A case has been registered against Dhoba and the investigation is in progress. Earlier, this accused was also involved in a DA case.
