There Should Be a Limit to the Number of Personal Staff of Ministers: Kerala HC

Thiruvananthapuram: There should be a limit to the number of personal staff of ministers, remarked the Kerala High Court. It also observed that this limit should also apply to the appointment of such personal staff even for Chief Minister, Chief Whip and the Leader of Opposition.

The Kerala High Court was of the opinion that recruitment of people as personal staff is inappropriate without fixing any limits.

The Division Bench of the Kerala High Court made this remark while dismissing a petition filed by Anti-Corruption People’s Movement of the state on Thursday. This organization had approached the High Court seeking introduction of criteria for the appointment of personal staff. But the Kerala High Court dismissed the petition saying recruitment of personal staff is a policy decision of the state government.
