To Improve State Police Odisha CM Moots Special Battalion For Puri, New Outposts, More Vehicles

Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to improve the performance of the state police, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday said that a roadmap has been prepared to make Odisha police one of the best in the country.

Speaking to newsmen at the conference of district Collectors and SPs in Bhubaneswar, Majhi said plans have been made to form a special battalion for Puri Jagannath Temple and recruitment of 1043 personnel. These police personnel will facilitate the smooth conduct of Rath Yatra.

The state government has also decided to recruit 2098 home guards, he added.

The CM said that state government will provide all required infrastructure and equipment so that police force is able to respond properly during emergency situations.

Each police station will have an extra four-wheeler along with provision of 9000 motorcycles.

Ten more police outposts will be set up in medical colleges and the state government will also set up ten more ODRAF units, the CM said. There will be one ODRAF unit for each district. At present, there are 20 ODRAF units in the state.

Three more battalions of Odisha State Striking Force will be set up.
