Cuttack: Four persons were arrested in connection with the cricket match umpire murder case in Odisha’s Cuttack district.
The four accused were identified as Smritranjan Raut, Sanjay Raut, Badal Kaubatal, and Jaga. According to reports, the police caught the accused from different places in the district.
It is pertinent to note that an umpire was stabbed to death for reportedly giving a wrong decision. The incident took place at Manhisalanda village under Choudwar police limits in Cuttack district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Lucky Rout, a resident of Manhisalanda village.
According to sources, During a cricket tournament in Manhisalanda village, two teams got involved in a verbal duel over the wrong decision of the umpire.
The verbal altercation turned into bloody violence when a youth, identified as Samutiranjan Rout of Dalijoda Brahmapur village lost his cool and attacked Lucky with a knife.
Local people immediately rescued a profusely bleeding Lucky and rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. However, the doctors there declared him received dead.
