Underworld don Dawood’s associate arrested

Mumbai: Mumbai crime branch has got big success. Riyaz Bhati, a close associate of notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been arrested. Riyaz has been arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly extorting money from a Mumbai businessman.

According to information, Riyaz extorted Rs 30 lakh car and nearly Rs 7.5 lakh cash from a businessman. In this regard, the concerned businessman filed a case against Riyaz and his accomplice Iqbal Qureshi alias Salim Fruit at the Bursova police station in Mumbai.

According to crime branch officials, Riyaz and Salim extorted the money by threatening to kill the fruit trader. As the police have registered many cases against these two criminals, the police registered a case based on the complaint of the businessman and immediately handed over the file to the crime branch.

In this series, the crime branch team arrested Riyaz from Andheri West on Monday late at night. According to Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC), the accused will be produced in court after interrogation at the AIC office on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the police will apply to the court to remand the accused.

Dawood’s accomplice Riyaz has a long list of crimes. He has been active in the world of crime for almost 12 years. Many cases are pending against him, such as charging land and usurpation of used land and houses, shootings, assaults, and attempted murders. He has already been arrested many times in this case. In 2015 and 2020, he also tried to flee the country using fake passports.
