Winter Session of Odisha Assembly Ends Prematurely

Bhubaneswar: The Winter Session of the Odisha Assembly prematurely ended. The Speaker adjourned the assembly 29 days prior to the due date.

The Winter Session began on November 24 and it was scheduled to continue till December 31.

The Assembly functioned for only eight working days.

On the first day, the state government tabled a supplementary Budget of Rs 16,800 crore. It passed the supplementary Budget on November 30.

The State Assembly devoted seven days to official business while one day was allotted for private members’ business.

In the Assembly, Opposition BJP and Congress members tried to corner the BJD government over the honey-trap case involving Archana Nag and issues related to the plight of farmers in Odisha.

The opposition party members also targeted the Treasury bench by citing the absence of several ministers in the Winter Session of the Assembly.
