Woman advocate and her daughter attacked in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu

Chennai: On Sunday, a woman advocate and her daughter were attacked and injured by a young man in Tirupur district, police said.

According to the police, 40-year-old Jamila Banu, a public prosecutor in the women’s court in Kumaran Salai, and her 21-year-old daughter were in her office at Tirupur’s Kumaran Road when Rahman Khan, 25, of Periyathottam area, barged in and assaulted Jamila. While trying to save Jamila, the girl was also injured.

The girl was taking notes of old cases from Jamila’s office for research. As people rushed to help Jamila, the assailant Rahman dropped his weapon and ran away from the scene. Jamila’s head and hands were injured. He has been taken to a government hospital for further treatment.

According to the investigation, Banu’s daughter, who is studying at the Government Law College, had earlier complained of harassment in the name of Haman. Based on her complaint, the police arrested Rahman. But, he was later released on bail. After the above incident, Rahman became violent and attacked the mother and daughter, police said.
