Woman Gives Birth to Baby with 4 Arms, 4 Legs & 2 Hearts in Bihar

Patna: A woman gave birth to a baby girl with four arms, four legs and two hearts in Chhapra under Bihar’s Saran district. The baby’s head shape was also unusual, drawing a large crowd to the nursing home where she was born. Opinions varied, with some seeing it as a divine incarnation and others as a biological anomaly. Unfortunately, the baby girl passed away shortly after birth.

The mother, Prasuta Priya Devi, delivered the baby girl at the Sanjivani Nursing Home in Shyamchak, Chhapra. The doctor was astonished upon seeing the newborn, and the news quickly spread within the hospital, creating discussions among staff and patients. The image of the girl gained attention on social media.

Dr Anil Kumar, the hospital’s director, shared details about the baby girl’s unusual features. She had four ears, four legs, and four arms, along with two spinal cords. Additionally, she had two beating hearts in her chest. The hospital performed an operation to deliver the baby, who was alive at birth but unfortunately passed away approximately 20 minutes later.

Such occurrences are rare, according to the doctor. They happen when two babies develop from a single egg in the uterus, and if the separation of twins is delayed or incomplete, children with unique characteristics are born. The mother faced significant challenges during the birth, and although the baby girl was delivered through surgery, she did not survive.
