1 Killed, 3 Injured In Blast At Cracker Manufacturing Unit In Angul

Angul: A cracker manufacturing unit explosion claimed a person’s life while three others were critically injured at Saanda village of Injidi panchayat under Khamar police limits of Angul district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Tripur Behera. Meanwhile, the injured were initially rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Khamar and were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here as their health condition deteriorated.

According to reports, the explosion occurred at the unit while they were making crackers for Diwali this morning.

The explosion was of such high intensity that the thatched roof of the unit has been completely blown off while one person was killed and three others were injured.

On being informed Khamar police have rushed to the spot and are investigating the matter. It’s not clear whether the unit had a licence to manufacture crackers or was functioning illegally.
