16 CCTV Cameras Installed at Bharatpur Police Station After Alleged Assault on Army Officer, Fiancée

Bhubaneswar: In a key development, 16 CCTV cameras have been installed at Bharatpur police station following public outrage over the absence of surveillance equipment.

The cameras have been strategically placed inside and outside the station to enhance transparency and accountability. Sources revealed that an additional nine cameras are expected to be installed soon.

This installation comes in the wake of a controversy involving an Indian Army officer and his fiancée, where the police station was accused of misbehaviour.

The Orissa High Court had expressed dissatisfaction upon learning that 57 out of 650 police stations in the state lacked CCTV surveillance.

The Court directed the Additional Director General (Modernisation) to submit a status report on CCTV camera installations across police stations in Odisha, prompting the swift action at Bharatpur Police Station.
