2 Peddlers Arrested For Brown Sugar Smuggling In Khordha

Khordha: Two persons were arrested on Friday and 400 grams of brown sugar seized.

Police have also seized an SUV (Mahindra Bolero) and Rs 26,200 in cash from their possession.

Two peddlers, identified as Ganeswar Behera and Sandip Mohanty who hail from Dhenkanal and Khordha districts respectively were trapped red-handed.

Police sources said that the duo used to smuggle brown sugar from Bihar to the Bhubaneswar area.

The police on a specific tip-off conducted a raid at Haladia village under the Khordha Adasha police limit in the wee hours.

The accused have been arrested. Another aide, Chandi Das of the Dhenkanal area is yet to be apprehended.
