Odisha To Get 5G Services By March 2023: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Bhubaneswar: While 5G services were made available in selected Indian cities earlier this month, cellular users of Odisha were left disappointed by the fact that no mention of the state was made during the initial launch, hence, there is much anticipation among the users regarding the availability of 5G services in the state.

Addressing media questions at an event in Bhubaneswar, Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw claimed that 5G services in Odisha will be launched in 8 cities by March of 2023.

However, when asked about the names of the specific cities, the minister chose not to disclose them and asked the users to wait.

Notably, 200 Indian cities have been shortlisted for the initial 5G launch, among them, feature 8 major cities of Odisha, according to the minister.

“You will be pleased to know, in the 1st phase (till 31st March 2023) of 5G rollout we have shortlisted around 200 Indian cities among them there are 8 cities of Odisha … I won’t name them (smirks),” the minister claimed.

“Very soon .. by the end of 2023 (that will be phase two), around 80% of the state will be covered,” he added.

Meanwhile, this teaser from the minister has raised the anticipation of the users and has left them excited for the launch.
