BDO Slapped With Rs 25K Fine For Letting Minor Son Ride Two-Wheeler In Phulbani

Phulbani: Providing a two-wheeler to an underage son has cost dear for a senior administrative officer in the district.

Kotagada Block Development officer (BDO) Arjun Pradhan had to pay a hefty fine of Rs 25,000 after his minor son was caught riding a bike with friend riding pillion.

According to reports, the son of the BDO was speeding the scooty with friend on pillion and was caught by the joint team of police and RTO officials at Bisipada in the Phulbani.

During questioning, the raiding team came to know the boy is the son of the local BDO.

The enforcement team immediately informed the officer who rushed to the spot and pay the fine.

RTO Sisir Kumar Sahoo said that the scooty has been seized and the BDO has been issued a challan of Rs 25,000 under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Notably, Zero Fatality Week is being observed across the State from April 1, which will continue till April 7. As a part of the drive, the enforcement teams comprising police and RTO officials are conducting crackdown on traffic violators, especially underage driver and riders.

The special week is being observed to reduce road fatalities especially minor children.

According to the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, if an underage person is found driving on the roads, their parent or guardian might have to face a penalty of  Rs 25000.
