BJB College Restricts Outsiders’ Entry Into Campus Following Stabbing Incident

Bhubaneswar: The administration of Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar have banned the entry of outsiders to the campus following the stabbing incident in which three students sustained injuries.

The college administration put up posters at each of the campus’ entrances warning visitors against entering without a valid reason.

To further enhance the safety and security of the residents, the gate next to the hostel has been locked.

Meanwhile, the college administration decided to write to the relevant department regarding wire fences and formed an expert team for the installation of CCTV cameras on campus.

“After a meeting with the hostelers, we’ve shut the gate next to the hostel. This will prevent outsiders’ entry. We will also request that the playground be fenced in with barbed wire in a letter to the R&B division. Additionally, we have established a committee of experts to oversee the installation of CCTV cameras,” said Gulam Moinuddin Khan, the principal of BJB College.

“We have been told to permit admission to the campus for pupils wearing uniforms and carrying ID cards. Similarly, we have been instructed to record in a register the name, mobile number, and car number of outsiders who are visiting the college for official reasons, according to a security officer stationed on the college grounds.

A student who applauded the college administration’s decision said, “The move will make the campus a safer place.”

Notably, three college students were injured after being attacked by some miscreants on Saturday following a dispute over playing cricket on the campus’s grounds.

Eight people have been arrested by the Commissionerate Police so far in connection with the case.
